MikeyGuitar.com has come up with an interesting gimmick for bass guitars -- when you pull a lever the frets rotate to a position where they're completely flush with the neck, which essentially gives you a fretless bass. You can play your fretless solo and then go back to a regular slapping. I don't much like the look of the lever that he uses but the concept is very cool.
