Web Designs by Myrtle

Sure, you could get Yvonne to do your web site, but why not try Myrtle. Her web site shows off her skill and gives some personal information as well. (She hates periods and enjoys "gourmet food" like chili)

Also check out her boyfriend Todd's site, also designed by her. He's quite the catch.

McMurder

McMurder.com explores the connection between McDonalds and murders. From the web site:

As murders in major cities across the United States continue at a relatively unaltered rate, we have formed a task force to analyze the surrounding
community to see if we could find any patterns. What we found was disturbing to say the least. The common bond? Within 1 mile of each murder scene we able to locate a McDonald's restaurant. Coincidence? We thought so, until further investigation provided more evidence to link McDonald's to a
campaign of murder.

A Cute Couple

Our family was at a restaurant when Lynne mentioned that the two people at the next table were a "cute couple". I asked for an explanation -- did that mean that each of them was cute, or that they were cute with each other. It seems that it was a little of both.

The couple featured at the "Our Beautiful Wedding" blog is another story altogether. Disregard the links on that page, though. Some of them are NSFW.

Calvin & Hobbs

Calvin and Hobbs was one of my favorite comics. Now there's a web site that allows you to search for words or phrases to find a specific one. Go to Transmogrifier and try it out.

Flap Art

Wouldn't it be funny if you were sitting on the subway reading a book and on the front cover it said, "How to Murder a Complete Stranger and Get Away with It?" Imagine what people around you would think, especially when you finally finished the book".
Flap Art is a site that sells bizarre book covers that you put over top of whatever book you happen to be reading. They carry titles such as "How to Cheat Your Way Through College", "How to Steal From Your Employer and Get Away With It" (try leaving THAT on your desk at work) and "Laser Eye Surgery at Home".

Miniature Babies

This is not photoshopped -- it's real. Well, a real sculpture. These miniature babies are creations of artist Camille Allen, sculpted in stunning detail. They are made from prosculpt polymer clay and mohair. An even better gallery showing her work can be found here.

Pipecleaner Dance

This is a simple web page that amused my kids for a while. Move your mouse over the little pictures and watch the pipecleaner figure dance to "Footloose".

Lasik @ Home

In the past, LASIK surgery was an expensive procedure that could only be performed by skilled professionals in a doctor's office or eye clinic. Often costing upwards of $1000 per eye and almost never covered by insurance, Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) was beyond the reach of most North Americans.
Now the revolutionary "Lasik at Home" system makes clear vision affordable for everyone.

I think it's a joke, but the site seems legit. What do you think?

What made me laugh today...

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm so sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away."

The distressed owner wailed, "Are you sure"?

"Yes, I am sure. The duck is dead," he replied.

"How can you be so sure"? she protested. "I mean, you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."

The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room, and returned a few moments later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom.
He then looked at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head. The vet patted the dog and took it out, and returned a few moments later with a cat. The cat jumped up on the table and also sniffed delicately at the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room.

The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100 percent certifiably, a dead duck."

Then the vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.

The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!" she cried. "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead"?

"The vet shrugged. "I'm sorry. If you'd taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the lab report and the cat scan, it's now $150."

April Fools

In case some of you didn't pick up on it, yesterday's post about wireless extension cords and Wednesday's "Fat Tax" were hoaxes. Anyone who tried to figure out how much they would have had to pay for either of these would have found out.

For the rest, thanks for playing!
